American White Oak
Heartwood is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Nearly white to light brown sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from the heartwood
American Red Oak
Pale reddish brown, sapwood darker, heavy, hard, strong, coarse-grained.
European Oak
Heartwood pale yellow brown. Sapwood creamy and distinctive. Texture coarse and uneven.
Silky Oak
The heartwood is orange-brown and the texture is medium to coarse with straight to wavy grain. Broad rays and dark and light colour banding in the growth rings produce attractive figure with a flecked grain similar to European Beech and American Oak
